4. PŘÍKLADOVÝ SCÉNÁŘ
Person: Excuse me, do you speak English? I’m a bit lost and I’m trying to find the Tower of London.
Local: Yes, of course. I’d be happy to help you. Where are you coming from?
Person: I’m not sure, I think I took the wrong bus. I was staying at a hotel near Hyde Park.
Local: Alright, well you need to take the underground to the Tower Hill station. Do you know how to get to the nearest tube station from here?
Person: No, I don’t. Can you show me on the map?
Local: Sure, let me have a look. You need to walk two blocks that way, turn left at the crossroads and you’ll see the entrance to the station on your right. From there, you need to take the District Line eastbound towards Upminster and get off at Tower Hill station.
Person: Okay, got it. Thanks! And then how do I get to the Tower of London from there?
Local: Once you exit the station, you’ll see signs pointing towards the Tower of London. It’s about a 5-10 minute walk from the station. You can’t miss it.
Person: Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it!
Local: You’re welcome. Enjoy your stay in London!
5. PŘÍBĚH O TOMÁŠOVI
I’d like to tell you a story that happened to Tomáš last year. Tomáš is a Czech man who decided to travel to London for the first time. Tomáš was excited to explore the city but he didn’t speak English very well. He thought it wouldn’t be a problem because he had a map and GPS on his phone, but he quickly realized that getting around London was much more complicated than he had expected.
One day, Tomáš wanted to visit the Tower of London. He thought he had the right directions, but he turned around and found himself lost in a crowded street. He saw a kind-looking elderly woman and decided to approach her for help.
Tomáš tried to explain his situation in broken English, but the woman couldn’t understand him. Feeling helpless, he took out his phone and showed her the address of the Tower of London. The woman smiled and nodded, took the phone, and spoke into it in Czech!
Tomáš was shocked that she spoke his language. It turned out that the woman was originally from the Czech Republic, but had lived in London for many years. She was happy to help Tomáš and gave him detailed directions to the Tower of London, and even wrote them down for him.
With the woman’s help, Tomáš finally found the Tower of London and had a wonderful time exploring it. He felt grateful for the woman’s kindness and felt encouraged to start learning English so that he could communicate better in the future.
Tak jestli se ani ty nechceš ztratit, rozhodně se uč angličtinu! Stojí to za to! Jestli chceš, já ti s tím klidně pomůžu 🙂
